Welcome to Aberdeen Anaesthesia
The Department of Anaesthesia in Aberdeen is one of the largest single departments in the UK with over 70 consultants, several SAS doctors and some 60 trainees. Most anaesthetic services are provided on the Foresterhill site which is home to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI), Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) and Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH). Elective orthopaedics is undertaken at Woodend Hospital, a standalone suite one mile west of Foresterhill. Mental health services are based at the Royal Cornhill Hospital less than one mile to the east.
All major specialties are covered, with anaesthetic services integrated in a central department with a wide breadth of experience in all branches of anaesthesia. Our department is host to a wide range of training opportunities, courses, CPD, research, quality improvement and academia with contacts across the local health services and universities.
Our Jobs
Our jobs are advertised on NHS Scotland jobs, but we are always happy to receive informal enquiries from colleagues considering joining our department. We are particularly recruiting for a paediatric anaesthetist to join our department, find out more by watching this video!
